Empower Yourself with Knowledge
Understanding Your Rights in Massage Therapy
At At Ease Massage of Leesburg, we believe that knowledge is power. Our clients deserve to understand their rights and the standards they can expect during their massage therapy sessions. We are dedicated to maintaining a professional environment where client comfort and privacy are paramount. By familiarizing yourself with these rights, you can fully enjoy a safe and effective massage experience tailored to your needs. Rest assured, I am here to provide guidance and ensure that every aspect of your treatment is focused on your well-being, allowing you to relax and rejuvenate without worry.
Right to Respect and Dignity
You have the right to be treated with courtesy, kindness, and professionalism at all times, and to receive services without discrimination of any kind. Your personal values, boundaries, and lived experiences deserve respect, including trauma-related needs, cultural modesty preferences, and other comfort considerations. You are always treated as the expert on your own body.
Right to Privacy
You have the right to receive massage in a dedicated private suite with a private entrace. You can expect a clean and comfortable space, including a reception area, massage room, and private bathroom with shower, fresh towels, and toiletries for use before or after your session. Only one client is seen at a time, so you will have the massage room to yourself and, if applicable, your accompanying parent or guardian during the appointment.
Right to Transparency
You have the right to clear information about what will happen during your massage, including the general techniques that may be used based on your needs. You may ask questions at any time before, during, or after your session, and you will receive honest, understandable answers. If anything changes during the session, you will be informed and asked to approve or decline that change.
Right to Comfort
You have the right to decide how much clothing you wear and to undress only to your comfort level. The therapist will leave the room so you can undress in private. You will be properly draped by a sheet at all times so that only the area being worked on is uncovered. You may ask for changes to pressure, speed, positioning, room temperature, lighting, or music volume at any time, when possible. You may also stop any technique immediately or end the session entirely, for any reason.
Right to Personal Boundaries
You have the right to expect strong boundaries around sensitive areas. Genitals are never touched under any circumstance. Female breasts remain covered at all times and are not massaged, except where a specific Virginia law exception applies and has been discussed and documented in writing prior to the session. Inner thighs and gluteal muscles are approached conservatively and only included with your explicit consent. All touch must and will remain therapeutic and non-sexual.
Right to Expressing Health Concerns
You have the right to have your health history and preferences taken seriously so your session can be adapted for safety. If massage may not be appropriate or needs to be modified because of injury, illness, or another condition, that will be discussed with you. You may also reschedule if you are ill or contagious, and you can take breaks for water, the restroom, the shower, stretching, or changing position.
Right to Confidentiality
You have the right to privacy and confidentiality before, during, and after your session. Your identity as a client, along with any personal or health information you share is treated as confidential except when disclosure is required by law. There are security cameras on the exterior of the suite for safety, but no interior cameras in any portion of the massage suite. No photos, videos, or audio recordings will be ever taken of you or used for marketing without your explicit written consent.
Right to Accessibility
You have the right to know in advance that access to the suite includes three steps with a railing, a driveway for parking, a path, and a concrete walkway leading to the entrance. If you have questions about whether the space is a good fit for your physical needs, you will receive honest guidance and respectful support in finding alternatives when possible.
Right to Transparent Billing
You have the right to clear information about session lengths, fees, payment methods, cancellation policies, and no-show expectations. At Ease Massage of Leesburg is a no-tipping business. If you thoroughly enjoyed your service, the best way to show appreciation is to leave a review on social media and schedule another appointment. You will never be billed for services you did not consent to receive.
Rights for Minor Clients
If you are under 18, you have the right to age-appropriate explanations, conservative draping, and additional boundaries appropriate for minors. A parent or guardian must remain on the premises, and is welcome to remain in the room if the minor is comfortable with that. The minor always has the right to speak up, ask questions, and say no to any technique or area, even if the parent or guardian has given consent.
Right to Contact
You have the right to contact At Ease Massage of Leesburg by phone, text, or email for scheduling, basic questions, or brief health updates related to your session. You can expect clear information about hours, booking expectations, and when messages will be returned.
